 CLASS DESCRIPTION

The approach emphasising planned sequencing, timing and the use of props. The instructions are precise and methodic. It teaches how to develop strength and flexibility, improvement of the respiratory system and increase of the blood circulation.

Visual demonstration are done to develop understanding and intelligent actions in the pose. Props such as blankets, belts, chairs and blocks are used to adjust the asanas for each individual which allows the body to progress in an anatomically way.

It is dynamic, engaging and focused which incorporates a mental component of inspiration and innovative exploration where the practitioner can come to clear their minds.

Pranayama is started once a firm foundation in asana has been established. It is the science of breath, the process of the elongation, expansion and extension of each breath.

PRANAYAMA

The benefits of the different PRANAYAMA techniques, UJJAYI, VILOMA and BHRAMARI, will be added to the weekly Restorative classes at the end of each month.

Prana means breath, respiration, life or strength. Pranayama is an art and has techniques to make the respiratory organs to move and expand intentionally and rhythmically. It is not just automatic breathing to keep body and soul together.

BKS Iyengar

According to Patanjali, man’s purpose on earth is to know himself at his deepest level, his very Self. He enumerated the different disciplines that must be mastered in order to reach this goal and named it “The eight-Fold Path”.

Instructor

The classes are taught by the Iyengar tradition in accordance with Iyengar Yoga teaching standards and as regulated by the Iyengar Yoga association of France, l’AFYI.
